Deaf Awareness & British Sign Language

Sign Lingual UK’s courses in Deaf Awareness enable people to gain an insight into Deafness and confidence in methods for effective communication.  Our courses can be tailored to meet individual requirements.
Sign Lingual UK is a Signature Accredited Training Centre, providing excellent resources, tutoring and support.  We offer a variety of levels in BSL (British Sign Language) leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

 

Community Services

Sign Lingual UK, as a Community Interest Company’, is committed to supplying free services for the Deaf community. These include running a local Deaf meet where people can socialise & share views & information. We also run ‘correspondence sessions’ whereby Deaf people can attend the session with any letters or paperwork to have these translated for them.  We run ‘drop in’ sessions to share information & assist people with an urgent issue or concern.

We also carry out research to aid communication & identify issues affecting the Deaf community. We seek funding for our research then collate information that is presented in reports to aid policy & decision makers to ensure changes & improvements to enable improved & equal access for Deaf people.

Sign Lingual UK facilitates equal and open communication between Deaf and hearing people.  We provide a wide range of communication services including:

•  Note-takers (Electronic or Manual)
•  Speech-To-Text reporters
•  Deafblind Communicator Guides
•  Deaf Interpreters/Translators
